Last year, PlatinumGames showed off a brand-new entry to an old series of arcade shooters, known asSol Cresta. While the game was revealed on April Fools' Day,Sol Cresta’s reveal was not a joke, and would be launching to various platforms. Much like the two other games in theCrestaseries, it will be a classic space shooter arcade game, where players control three spaceships and face off against intergalactic threats with a variety of weaponry at their disposal. This entry will complete a trilogy of games that started in 1980, with the last game being released almost 36 years ago.

While it seemed like development for the game was going smoothly, PlatinumGames announcedSol Cresta’s delay, which pushed it into this year. This delay may have been worth it, as PlatinumGames then announced the game would be releasing later this month. This news was announced during a livestream that showed off several improvements and new content forSol Cresta. PlatinumGames recently announced one more thing that might excite fans: a physical edition.

Some thought thatSol Cresta’s release later this monthwould be digital only, as it is a smaller space-shooter title that is arcade-like in nature. However, thanks to Limited Run Games, this new title will be available in a special physical format. The game’s physical release will come in both a Standard and Collector’s Edition, open for a short time and will close on March 20th.

The contents ofLimited Run Games' Collector’s EditionforSol Crestawas also detailed in a tweet. It showed a special box that shows all three protagonists on it, a enamel pin of the game’s logo, as well as a series of medals. The Collector’s Edition will contain a metal replica ofSol Cresta’s spaceship, a two disc sountrack, three acrylic stands, and even some art cards. There is even a mini arcade cabinet replica with a video screen, though it can only play videos.

It should be noted that while this Collector’s Edition forSol Crestais available for both Switch and PS4 platforms, there is no PC version available as an option. The standard physical version will be around $49.99 USD, with the collector’s edition being a much pricier $129.99 USD. Either version of the game will also come pre-packaged with the Dramatic DLC that will be coming after launch, so fans won’t have to worry about buying more content on top of the physical version.

Sol Crestawill be launching February 22 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Switch.
