A video released earlier in which Eiji Aonuma,The Legend of Zelda’s producer, revealed thatBreath of the Wild’s highly anticipated sequelwill now release in Spring 2023 instead of later this year as previously announced. While many fans of the series are happy with the game coming out in 2023 so Nintendo has time to make it the best it can be, there are some fans hoping that a Switch port ofThe Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HDwill come out later this year.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Wakeris a game that released in 2002 on the GameCube. Due to its cartoonish art style, fun gameplay, and interesting plot, it became a lot of fans' favorite game in the series. A remaster of the game, known asThe Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, released on the Wii U in 2013, which was enjoyed by both fans of the original game and newcomers. Unfortunately, the game isn’t available on the Switch, and due tothe Wii U’s eshop closing soon, fans were already hoping that Nintendo would port the remake to its newest hybrid console.

Seeing as howThe Wind Waker HDis such a popular title in the series, many gamers have been wanting to play it on the go since the Switch released, as they weren’t able to do so on the consoles the game has been on. WithBreath of the Wild’s sequel not coming out this year, some of them have more hope now to playThe Wind Waker HDthan they have in the past.

Another popular video game in the franchise that players have been hoping would be ported to the Switch isThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It originally released on the GameCube and Wii in 2006, and received a remaster,The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, in 2016 for the Wii U, similar toThe Wind Waker HD. Fans are hoping that ports of both of these games would release last year, for the franchise’s 35th anniversary, but the only port that came wasThe Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. Gamers hope that ports of these older titles will come to the Switch soon.
