Amazonrecently put up the PS5 page on its website, and confused fans have speculated when they will be able to order the console, even though the preorder option is still not available on the site. Due to the online retailer’s action, many fans of the PlayStation franchise theorized that Sony would just surprise fans when preordering is available, just as they were surprised by the page going live.

However, fans weren’t the only ones surprised by this leak. Sony was also confused by the hype surrounding the webpage, and the company said that it did not have a hand in that miscommunication.

Geoff Keighley gave a brief showcase for thePS5’s DualSense controller, and afterward, he had a conversation with Eric Lempel, the Worldwide Head of Marketing. Lempel told fans that the company wouldn’t drop the preorder availability on fans at a moment’s notice. Instead, PlayStation will be announcing when fans can begin the purchase the console ahead of its official release.

The company will also give players official instructions on how purchasing the console will work so that rumors like the ones that currently has gamers in a frenzy don’t cause fans to run out to stores to buy the currently unavailable system.

While fans' responses to thePS5 rumorhave given Sony an idea of how in-demand the new console is, there is still no word on the release date from the official source. However, fans now know that they can expect a head’s up from PlayStation before the new system is available for preorder.
