Last year, EA and Respawn Entertainment releasedStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the first single-player entry in theStar Warsfranchise for some time. And whileEA’s use of theStar Warslicensehas been a point of contention for some fans,Fallen Orderproved to be pretty popular upon its release, despite numerous technical issues. It appears that popularity translated into sales, too.

In an earnings report published today, EA revealed just how manyJedi: Fallen Orderplayers are out there, with the game reaching more than 10 million unique players. That number doesn’t directly translate into sales, asOrigin Accessallows players to access the game for $15 a month, along with other games in EA’s lineup, but it’s an impressive milestone nonetheless.

Just yesterday,Fallen Ordergot a free content update, giving players a reason to step back into the shoes of Cal Kestis, the game’s Jedi protagonist. With combat similar toSekiroand some Metroidvania aspects,Fallen Orderwas a fairly interesting combo, though its success should speak for itself.

EA has canceled multipleStar Warsgames, leading to frustration among fans. So far, many of EA’sStar Warstitles have been multiplayer games with live-service elements, leading to negative feedback from members of the community. That came to a head during the launch ofBattlefront 2, which featured unbalanced progression due to the inclusion of loot boxes.

Fallen Order’ssuccess may give EA a reason to further explore single-player games in theStar Warsuniverse. Yesterday,KOTORbegan trendingdue to a tweet asking whichStar Warsgame was the best, with many people responding with the beloved Bioware titleKnights of the Old Republic. Many would love to see the series return, though it isn’t clear if EA would ever choose to bring it back.

For now, fans can only wait and see what EA has in the works for the franchise. EA plans to release 14 games this fiscal year, and aStar Warsgame for next-gen consoles would make sense, though nothing has been confirmed. Its one of the most beloved franchises on the planet, though, so letting it go to waste is a missed opportunity.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
