EA recently announced that the popular horror seriesDead Spacewill be making a comeback on next-gen consoles and PC. This was great news for fans, as many assumed the series was over after it went dormant after the release of its third game. There is still very little known about theDead Spaceremake, but it has been revealed that the game will be a full remake of the game by studio EA Motive.

The inspiration for theDead Spaceremake is reportedlyResident Evil 2 Remake, which is great news for fans of the series. This inspiration also putsDead Spaceremake in a fantastic position to make its own identity within the series, and to do something different from the original, while maintaining its thematic elements and spirit. There are a lot of changes that could be made inDead Spaceremake. However, the possibilities are undeniably exciting, and there are some simply great ways thatDead Spaceremake could take this opportunity to improve upon the original.

Isaac Clarke is the glue that holds theDead Spaceseries together, and he quickly became the face of the series after the original game’s release. Isaac’s helmet and minimal HUD integrated into his suit have become an iconic part of horror games. His story as a space engineer thrown into a terrible situation has always been endearing to players.

However, in the firstDead Space, Isaac never spoke and players hardly ever saw his face over the course of the game. TheDead Spaceremake would be very wise to change this and to start showing Isaac’s personality right from the start of the game, so that players can become familiar with him faster. This will be even more imperative if theDead Spaceremake is used as the start of a new series.

Giving Isaac more personality throughout the game also would not be overly difficult for the developers, as his personality plays a much larger role in bothDead Space 2andDead Space 3. There are many elements from the sequels thatDead Spaceremake should incorporate, and drawing from them to form Isaac’s personality in the first game is another great option. This would also help connect theDead Spaceremake with the original trilogy of games as it would help keep Isaac consistent across all four of them and ensure that the new game feels like a properDead Spacetitle for fans.

Dead Spacehas a lot of lore for its Necromorphs, but there are many aspects of the game’s universe that fans are still searching for information about. TheDead Spaceremake is in a great position to expand that lore, both in regards to the Necromorphs, and the world outside of the ship that Isaac is so perilously trapped on. Later entries in the game took Isaac to more parts of theDead Spaceuniverse, and theDead Spaceremake could do a lot to start fleshing that world out more so that there is more for players to sink their teeth into.

Putting more lore into theDead Spaceremake is also a great opportunity to consolidate some of the information and make it easier for new players to start learning all of it.DeadSpace’s remakewill likely attract many new fans to the series, and making the game a solid place for new players to start wrapping their head around story elements like markers, Necromorphs, and Isaac’s fractured psyche would go a long way in helping to get them fully on board with the series.

It also would be great for returning fans of the series, as lore in the previous games was always a bit hard to piece together, and having it all packed into one game would be a great way for fans to freshen up on the lore. Whether theDead Spaceremake adds new lore to the series, or just consolidates what is already there, having more in the game would make it veryexciting forDead Spacefans.

One of the greatest aspects of recent remakes likeResident Evil 2 RemakeandFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeis the elements of the games that they change. Both remakes manage to maintain the experience of the original games, while bringing them into modern times and giving fans something fully new to play. This is what theDead Spaceremake should strive for.

Horror games are always the most terrifying the first time through because players don’t know what to expect, so theDead Spaceremake being overly faithful to the events in the original game could lead to it landing a bit flat for fans who know what to expect. The developers have already announced that the game will includecontent cut fromDead Space, but the team should go even further.

Being willing to change the game more than a simple remaster will allow theDead Spaceremake to overcome some of the hurdles that it faces. Some fans have expressed concerns overDead Spaceremake’s ending not hitting the same as the original, and the game is willing to subvert the expectations of fans will help circumvent these issues. It would be a great moment for fans of the original game for theDead Spaceremake to take a step in a drastic new direction halfway through, or to even throw more curveballs at the player throughout its entire runtime so that the game feels fresh and new.

Hopefully, players will get some more news on theDead Spaceremake soon. Either way, there is a lot to be excited about in regards to the game, and it will be very interesting to see what shape it takes when it eventually releases. The game has a lot of potential to revitalize theDead Spaceseries by bringing new attention to it orcrossovers with other big titles likeDead By Daylight. Hopefully, theDead Spaceremake will be just as exciting for fans in the end as it seems it could be.
