Summer Games Fest capped off with one of the most anticipated announcements of the year by officially dropping a gameplay trailer forElden Ring. In celebration of the event, theElden Ringsubreddit exploded with a ridiculous amount of pent-up energy, flooding the site with thousands of posts.
The hype for Elden Ring has persisted since the game was first announced at Xbox’s E3 2019 press conference. The excitement spawned from the unprecedented collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki, developer ofDark Souls, and George R. R. Martin, author ofGame of Thrones. Now, following the drop of theElden Ringrelease trailer, and an official date being given to fans, all the hopeless waiting has finally come to an end and the celebrations have begun.

With Elden Ring coming on June 10, 2025, it will mark a total of three years of waiting for loyal fans. In anticipation of Summer Games Fest,Elden Ring fans had created memessuggesting that they did not expect any news on the title. Luckily, this time they were proven wrong, and they were given a detailed trailer on top of the release date. Even over a half-hour out from the reveal, the subreddit continues to average over 10 posts a minute as the hype surrounding the trailer refuses to peter out.
Of course, while new posts are popping up almost every second, the hottest discussions are piling on new comments as well. The majority of the posts seem to be focused around Geoff Keighley, the host of Summer Games Fest, who fans hadbombarded withElden Ringquestionsin the lead-up to the event. Now that Keighley has officially uttered the words to introduce theElden Ringtrailer, he has become the center of jokes on the subreddit that prop him up as a sort of hero within the community.
Now that a date has been picked, the real waiting can begin for members of the subreddit, and loyal fans in the gaming community at large. While the trailer was certainly exciting it still leaves fans with little to go on in terms of gameplay. The brief footage does appear to confirm suspicions thatElden Ringwill offer a more open-world feelthan other Souls-like games, which would be a big change within the genre. However, with an official release date, it’s likely that fans will begin to get a more steady flow of information related toElden Ring, now that the most major announcement is out of the way.
