The Last of Uswas a huge hit when it first launched in 2013, earning acclaim from critics, selling millions of copies, and spawning a franchise that’s seen DLC, a PS4 remaster, a sequel, and soon an HBO TV adaptation. And in the very near future, fans will be able to play an updated version of the originalLast of Usgame, asThe Last of Usremake will soon be launching for PlayStation 5.Note that this article will have some SPOILERS forThe Last of Us.
The Last of Usremake, known officially asThe Last of Us Part 1, will launch on September 2 for PlayStation 5 with a PC version coming at a later date. With the release date for the highly-anticipated remake right around the corner, PlayStation has released a launch trailer for the game, showing off some of the winter scenes that take place a little later in the adventure as well as some of its more violent moments.

The latestLast of Us Part 1trailer starts off by showing various winter scenes, including the segment of the game where players control Ellie. While Joel is the main playable character for most of the game,Ellie takes the lead rolein the winter segment when Joel becomes indisposed. Ellie would later become the central playable character inThe Last of Us Part 2, though in that game she is older with far more combat experience than she has in this one.
The rest of the trailer features Joel and Ellie taking on various enemies that they encounter throughout the game, including human enemies as well as thezombie-like monsters known as Clickers. The trailer emphasizes the extreme violence on display inThe Last of Us Part 1, as both Joel and Ellie are shown brutally killing both people and the infected in order to protect themselves.
While the story will be the same as fans remember from the original game,The Last of Us Part 1has PS5-specific enhancementsthat may make a return trip to post-apocalyptic USA worthwhile. Players can look forward toThe Last of Us Part 1incorporating the unique features of the PS5 DualSense controller, like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, along with vastly improved graphics. There are those who have been said these improvements still don’t justifyThe Last of Us Part 1’s $70 price tag, but fans will have to wait for the game to be out to know for sure if the upgrades are worth the investment.
