In the wake of a Kickstarter campaign thatmet its base goal in just half an hour, all signs have pointed toThe Wonderful 101 Remasteredcoming very soon, and now Platinum Games has confirmed as much, announcing when exactly its formerly Wii U exclusive superhero action game will be released and where.
For the uninitiated, the game originally came out in 2013 and set itself apart fromPlatinum’s other action-packed gameslikeBayonettaandNierAutomataby having players control a team of up to 100Power Rangers-esque heroes called Wonderful Ones all at once (with the players themselves being considered the 101st). On top of that, these heroes could merge together to form giant weapons called Unite Morphs to defend the earth against alien invaders.

The Wonderful 101 Remasteredis now set to launch as both a physical and digital release for the Switch, PS4, and PC on May 19 in North America, May 22 in Europe, and June 11 in Japan, priced at $39.99 / €44.99 / £39.99. It’s possible that Kickstarter backers may receive the game before these dates, however, as the campaign page still lists April as the estimated delivery date for the game.
Besides the release dates and prices, Platinum, as well as the game’s director, Hideki Kamiya, teased how the remaster will improve uponthe original release, with Kamiya stressing in a prepared statement that the remaster “isn’t just a simple port.” He explained, “We’ve tuned the controls for each new platform and made several adjustments that should make it easier to grasp and play. On top of that, we’ve improved the image quality and frame rate to suit modern hardware. On the whole, I’d sayThe Wonderful 101: Remasteredis the definitive edition of the game!”
With a little over a week left in its Kickstarter campaign, the game has generated $1.78 million in crowdfunding as of this writing. This will ensure that players receive much of the bonus content listed inThe Wonderful 101 Remastered’s stretch goals, including a time attack mode, a remixed soundtrack, and a new 2D adventure called Luka’s First Mission. Two more stretch goals currently remain to be reached, one for a sequel to Luka’s First Mission at $2 million, and another for full orchestral re-recordings of some of the game’s main tracks at $2.25 million.
The Wonderful 101 Remasteredwill be released on May 19 in North America, May 22 in Europe, and June 11 in Japan for PC, PS4, and Switch.
