Twitch streaming star TimTheTatman has expressed that he won’t be playingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer because it simply isn’t fun for him. While the reasoning is simple at the core, he goes on a long rant about why he doesn’t want to stream games likeModern Warfare 2. He will, however, grind the game off-stream just to get camo skins.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is Activision’s latest first-person shooter in the supremely popularCall of Dutyseries. It is officially launching on October 28, although the single-player campaign has been available in Early Access.TimTheTatman is one of Twitch’s most popular streamerswith 7 million followers and is specifically known for streaming first-person shooters, and battle royale games in particular.

Tim starts by saying that he wants to be honest about his streaming intentions. He doesn’t have a problem withModern Warfare 2specifically, instead, he doesn’t enjoy streaming any multiplayer games that have specific matchmaking systems. In the case ofModern Warfare 2multiplayer, he is only going to grind to get the camos. One mode that he seems to like inModern Warfare 2is Search and Destroy, a mode where players compete to either protect bomb sites or detonate an explosive on said sites.
The repetitive nature of continually dying and respawning isn’t fun for the streamer, as he has gotten used to the slower-pace battle royale titles where matches, or at least lives, last much longer. Another gripe he has, and a lot of gamers share, is that games likeModern Warfare 2are pushing skill-based matchmaking(SBMM) on modes that are not meant for ranked play. According to Tim, only ranked modes should be skill-matched.
TimTheTatman argues thatSBMM inModern Warfare 2quick play modesare killing FPS games, for him at least. This is because SBMM means that the streamer is matched always with some of the higher tier players with meta weapons, even when he wants to just have fun with less-than-ideal weaponry. It’s understandable since it is likely very stressful to play highly competitive games when the intention is just to let loose. On the other hand, game studios are likely thinking about the lesser skilled players that are joining quick play matches only to be destroyed by veterans of the game if SBMM is not used.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is currently available in Early Access, but only for the single-player campaign portion of the game. The multiplayer experience, including various game modes, opens with the official launch.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
