“Titanfall is part of our DNA at Respawn,” the company wrote when it announced that the firstTitanfallwas being delisted. However, many fans have felt as if their pleas for the franchise’s future went unanswered before then and have gone unanswered since then.Titanfallhad been unplayable due to hackers for quite some time, and it really has a lot of fans questioning the statement. This is especially true given the company has implied, corrected, walked back, and overall not been very direct given any possibility ofTitanfall 3.

However, that doesn’t mean Respawn Entertainment isn’t busy. Not only is the company working onApex Legends, abattle royale game set in theTitanfalluniverseif not aTitanfallgame properly, but EA confirmed that Respawn Entertainment was working on not one, not two, but threeStar Warsvideo games today.

Respawn Entertainment Gets Handed Star Wars

EA confirmed that Respawn was working onStar War Jedi: Fallen Order 2, although it did not name the sequel, but this is likely the company’s worst-keptStar Warssecret. The company is also developing a new first-person shooter in the Star Wars universe, which some online have taken to mean EA no longer trusts DICE. This is an extremely crude take on the circumstance, as whileBattlefield 2042is certainly disappointing,Battlefront 2eventually became a great game because of its story, gameplay, and support. It was only ever bogged down with microtransactions to begin with.

The thirdStar Warsgame is a strategy game, in proper development by newly-formed studio Bit Reactor with Respawn producing this game. ForStar Warsgame, this may prove to be a good thing. Even whenEA’sStar Warsexclusivity contract expires, it’ll still be working on games in the franchise, but hopefully, increased competition results in betterStar Warsgames across the board. ForTitanfallfans, though, it’s much worse.

Many have reacted to this news with sorrow, and it’s certainly understandable.Titanfall 3was always a long shot, even for those who still hoped it would happen, and this news comes as the final nail in the coffin. The above reactions show howTitanfallfans have treated this news, none of which is particularly gleeful. The best scenario is funny memes that are still sad, such as a meme on how 3 isn’t a high number forStar Warsgames but is apparently forTitanfall. Another uses the classic Padme meme to express disbelief.

After all, Respawn fans had all but officialconfirmation onStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2,but the other two games are out of left field. And with Respawn diversifying its teams among these three games, as well as continued support onApex Legends, it’s hard to see whereTitanfallfits into all of this. It would be great to be wrong and to hear aboutTitanfall 3in the next few years, but as it stands, this may be something fans remember as the dayStar WarskilledTitanfall.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2is in development.
