Science fiction and comedy are two genres that work well together. The outlandish and unrealistic elements of science fiction are always great segues into hilarious antics and wacky slapstick. Over the past few decades, Hollywood has done a great job turning sci-fi comedy into its own genre.

He ends up being forgotten and awakes in the year 2505 where everyone is so moronic that he’s easily the smartest man alive. While the film was a commercial failure, it remains one of the funniest comedies of the 2000s for its hilarious (and sometimes too relatable) look into the future.

Wall-Eis an animated sci-fi comedyreleased in 2008 by Pixar Animation Studios. The film is set in the future where Earth has been turned into a garbage-filled wasteland and is only populated by robots.

They soon discover that they are amidst an alien invasion and may be humanity’s only hope. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost make for a hilarious duo once again and the film is filled with memorable gags and a unique depiction of alien invaders.

He enters a hotel where people are given 45 days to find love or they will be turned into animals and sent into the wild.

Repo Manis a lesser known science fiction comedy from 1984 by director Alex Cox. The film stars Emilio Estevez as a recently hired repo man who must find a Chevy Malibu with a $20,000 bounty on it and something otherworldly stashed in the trunk.
