Tunicis a difficult game to write about, but not because of any inherent mechanical complexity.Secrets and discovery are such a central part ofTunicthat the range of what’s considered a spoiler is much wider than most games; often just figuring out how a core game mechanic works is a major discovery.

The “Bring it to the Wrong Fight” achievementasks players to sequence break, getting one ofTunic’slate-game weapons before finding the sword. As expected, this trick will involve information that should be a major discovery in a normal playthrough. This is how to beat one ofTunic’s most difficult challenges fast by using late-game knowledge.

Spoiler warning: This guide will spoil a late-game discovery.

How to Get the Tunic Achievement ‘Bring it to the Wrong Fight’ Fast

As one might expect from the name, this achievement involves getting the gun hidden in the quarry. This is one of the game’s harder areas normally, and the player will be attempting this withoutany ofTunic’s upgrades. While this is theoretically possible, it won’t be worth the hassle for most. Instead, they should openTunic’s accessibility options and set the game to No Fail Mode.

Harnessing Flame and the Holy Cross

When starting a new file, players should head up the stairs and get their starter weapon, the stick. To their immediate east, they’ll see a path blocked by bushes, pictured above. Normally, the player needs the sword to cut through this, but there is another way.

Hidden inTunic’s in-game manual, on page 17, there’s a cheat code for a free firebomb. On the D-pad, press left, up, right, down, right, up, right, down, right, up, and then left. Players can use this to burn away the bushes in the path. They only get one, however, so they need to be careful.

Past the bushes, they’ll find a silver door only unlockable with the power of the Holy Cross, a.k.a the d-pad. Press right, down, left, down, right, and then up to open it. Inside, they’ll findthe fire sword ability card, which sets the player’s weapon on fire, in exchange for reducing their health to 1HP. With their stick alight, they’ll be able to burn through the rest of the bushes in the hub area.

Reaching the Quarry and Finding the Gun

From there, the player needs to head to the northmost edge of the map, to the snowy mountainous area with a massive locked door. To the door’s right, through the gap in the stone wall, there’s a hidden staircase that leads to the back end of the quarry.

Once in, players should descend the nearby spiral staircases, one after the other. Head downward, and pass the mining enemies until reaching the firing range entrance. From there, once players have a free moment from the nearby enemies, grab the gun in the treasure chest on the little metal platform.

Tunicis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
