Content creators get banned fromTwitchevery day, and at this point viewers are used to many of their favorite streamers taking an unplanned hiatus for a few days every now and then. However,Twitch has been accused of not being transparent enough about bans, and the streaming platform is notorious, deservedly or not, for letting off its more popular personalities with little more than a slap on the wrist. Perhaps it’s due to this ongoing criticism of Twitch’s seemingly haphazard enforcement of its own terms of service that the platform has begun cracking down more regularly on high-profile users.Just last month,Adin Ross was indefinitely banned from Twitchfor using a homophobic slur on another person’s stream. While the ban itself may not be surprising, given the reason, some people were taken aback by the perceived severity of the punishment. Adin Ross has been rapidly growing in popularity on Twitch, approaching six million followers. Likewise, ItsSliker, another popular Twitch streamer, recently received a three-day ban for using an emote that violated the platform’s ToS. That ban was reversed after just one day.RELATED:xQc Wants Twitch Stream Snipers To Be BannedNow another high-profile personality has been banned from Twitch, though this time the punishment is slightly comical. DrLupo’s Twitch account received a seven-day ban after the content creator visited Ninja’s stream and typed something that the platform considered either “unsolicited sexual advances” or “graphic and vulgar sexual comments.”DrLupo once had an exclusivity deal with Twitch worth millionsof dollars, but the streamer signed a new contract with YouTube in August 2021 and has since been creating content for that platform instead.
DrLupo seemed to take theTwitchban in stride, stating on Twitter that he will “learn from [his] mistakes.” In reply to a comment on his post, he also joked, “I can promise you, it was not unsolicited.” The content creator didn’t need to endure his punishment for long, however, because less than an hour after sharing that he’d been banned, DrLupo was allowed back on the platform.
In his seven years creating content for Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer, DrLupo has become better known for his successful charity streams than for crude comments that get him banned. In 2022, the creator was nominated for the Best Philanthropic Streamer category of The Streamer Awards, though fellow YouTuber jacksepticeye ended up bringing home the title. In the past,DrLupo raised $2.3 million for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitalin 24 hours and, before leaving Twitch, the streamer had pledged all future tips would continue to go to that charity in order to help children fighting cancer.
When not visiting his friends’ streams to make humorous comments, DrLupo can be found on his YouTube channel, where he is still making theFortniteandEscape From Tarkovcontent that drew such a large audience during his Twitch days. He also occasionally plays other games likeTiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Elden Ring, andGenshin Impact.
