It may be hard to believe for some, but Koei and Tecmo were once two great Japanese companies. They are now one huge corporation with tons of smaller developers under its umbrella. Omega Force is one of them who is responsible for theDynasty Warriorsfranchise and its accompanying spinoffs. There is also Team Ninja who most recently is known for the samurai Soulslike RPG series,Nioh.

Koei Tecmoand its other brands have made some great games over the past couple of decades. Some, unfortunately, have fallen by the wayside and are difficult to play nowadays. These are only a few examples of some of the best Koei Tecmo games and series that have largely been forgotten.
8Pokemon Conquest
Pokemon Conquestwas aunique crossoverbetween the Pokemon games andNobunaga’s Ambition. The latter of the two is a lesser-known series in the West, as most of these tactical sims experiences were only released in Japan.
This crossover was a tactical RPG wherein famous Japanese feudal era lords and samurai were Pokemon Trainers such as Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It sounds weird and had a few hang-ups, but was a surprisingly fun tactical RPG that never got a sequel.
7Attack On Titan
Attack on Titan, referring to the 2016 console game, is the best thing Omega Force has ever made. Again, the company is known primarily as the hack and slash RPG developers. There is certainly some DNA fromDynasty Warriorshere but scouts are not slaying thousands of Titans like they were nothing.
These humanoid creatures are vicious and can take anyone down if they are not careful. It is an excellent adaptation of thepopular anime and manga seriesthat perfectly captures the exhilaration and fear that comes with hunting down Titans.
6Persona 5 Strikers
Persona 5 Strikersis the second best thing Omega Force has made and falls more in line with the classic hack and slash action style for which the developer is best known. Even though the action is more repetitive thanAttack on Titan, it doesn’t feel as strenuous as other Musou games. That’s because it felt likea true sequel toPersona 5,complete with its signature style, quirky characters, dungeons, and so much more.

Fans ofPersona 5will be surprised by how big this sequel is. It’s not something to be skipped and it hopefully paved the way for a third game. A quick shoutout needs to be thrown toHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamitywhich was an admirable attempt at a prequel toBreath of the Wildalong with Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3for being a fun game based on the popular mech series.
5Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Dissidia Final Fantasy NTwas a good fighting game and the third intheDissidiaspinoff series. Unlike the other games, however, Team Ninja handled the development for Square Enix. The problem, which was reflected in a lot of reviews, was that Square Enix put in a lot of microtransactions.
If players didn’t want to pay to unlock things then they needed to play a ridiculous amount of time to do so naturally. The previous two games on PSP were also bursting with content which was something this game was lacking.Dissidia Final Fantasy NThas gotten better though and arguably deserves a second chance.
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyballwas primarily made for one thing when it hit the original Xbox in the early 2000s. A lot of games from the sixth generation of video game consoles were trying to entice teenage boys with explicit content at this time.
This game, in particular, had a cast of buxom young women in skimpy bikinis playing volleyball and other mini-games at a resort. The sims-like gameplay may be a bit hard to get over today but the volleyball mechanics were actually pretty good which is why it is strange thatthe game has never resurfaced.
3Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Orderis another big gaming franchise that Team Ninja took over the development of. This sequel took over a decade to get made. Was it worth the wait for fans of all ofthese classic Marvel characters? That’s difficult to say.

It was not a knockout hit unlike the original two games or even theX-MenRPGs. Part of the problem was that it was a Switch exclusive and that there were a lot of glitches on top of some rough graphics. It was repetitive and lacked some inspiration but it was better than the majority of its review scores implied.
2Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword
Ninja Gaiden Dragon Swordis a forgotten sequel on the DS to the first game intheNinja Gaidenreboot series. It continued almost right where that game left off with Ryu Hayabusa once again heading into dangerous ninja territory.
The game is played vertically, with both screens taking up room on the map. This would make it hard to remaster on a console today unless it was a full 3D remake. It might be tricky to do so but this game deserves a second chance as it is another excellent entry in this ninja action series.
1Metroid: Other M
Metroid: Other Mgot good reviews by critics at the time but was dogged on hard byMetroidfans. Over the years, the outcry has not gotten any better. The biggest problem fans had with it is that it got away from what made Samus a cool character.
She was reliant on men for approval, which did seem to go against her nature from the other games. It has been memed to heck and back, like with “the baby” but the gameplay has always been good. Players could always ignore the story in a remaster to get to that sweet sweet action faster.
