Mask of the Red Death is a secret character inVampire Survivorsthat players can unlock by defeating the Reaper that appears at the end of a run. While this may seem like a monumental undertaking, it is indeed possible to beat this boss, provided that a player employs a very specific strategy. This guide will detail a strategy that can be used to kill the Reaper inVampire Survivors, and fans that follow along should eventually unlock the Mask of the Red Death.
To note, killing the Reaper requires precise positioning, and players should do their best to replicate the images below exactly. Even if a fan does land in the exact right spots, it is still possible that they may die before the 30-minute mark or fall to Death. Players that are committed to unlocking this secret character inVampire Survivorsshould thus be prepared to repeat this process numerous times.
Vampire Survivors: How to Kill Death
Prerequisites
Before starting the run, players should confirm that they have unlockedClerici, the character that is used for this strategy, and Hyper Mode for theInlaid Library. Addtionally, fans should refund theirVampire SurvivorsPowerUpsand then purchase the maximum ranks of the following: Might, Armor, Max Health, Recovery, Cooldown, Area, Speed, Duration, Amount, MoveSpeed, Luck, Revival. Any additional coins can be spent on Reroll, Skip, and Banish.
Setup
With the prerequisites fulfilled, players should select Clerici and enter the Inlaid Library, making sure to turn Hyper Mode on and to turn Arcanas off (unless they will be equipping the Awake card). Upon loading into the level, fans should immediately head upward and grab the green gem that is on the table. This action will prompt a level up, and players must obtainRunetracerhere. If thatVampire Survivorsweaponis not on offer, fans must restart their runs until it becomes available.
With the Runetrace equipped, fans should position Clerici under the clock that is above the table with the green gem. More specifically, thisVampire Survivorscharacter’s extended hand should be in line with the pendulum that is hanging from the clock, and her belt should be in line with the top of the trim at the bottom of the wall. Again, this positioning is very tight, and players should ensure that they put some preliminary effort toward getting into the exact spot shown in the following image.
Players must now simply wait in this spot until they reach30 minutes inVampire Survivors. While this time is typically quite uneventful, fans may occasionally get a chest, and that is not a problem. It is problematic if a player ends up getting pushed beyond Level 2 during this phase, though, and they should restart the run if that occurs.
Fighting Death
When the 30-minute mark arrives, players should wait until they see the Reaper appear and then immediately head in the direction of the red gem that should be positioned somewhere on the screen. Notably, this red gem can occasionally spawn slightly off-screen, and fans are advised to travel to the right if they do not see it from their spot above the table. AsVampire Survivorsplayersmove toward the red gem and collect it, they will level up many times, and this how they should prioritize their item selection:
After collecting the red gem, players should head back to the area above the table, grabbing chests andevolving weapons inVampire Survivorsalong the way. This time around, Clerici should be positioned so that she is centered on the right edge of the table, and her belt should be in the middle of the trim at the bottom of the wall. If all goes according to plan, fans should dispatch the Reaper after standing in this spot for a few minutes, and the Mask of the Red Death will be available in the character select screen thereafter.
