Stage three of the massivePokemon GOThrowback 2020 Challengeis here, which means trainers are racing through a long list of Hoenn-related tasks to complete the timed Special Research this week. The ongoing event offers some massive rewards, especially for players who have been keeping up and plan to complete the parts of the connecting Special Research events.

This time around, theHoenn Pokemon GO Throwback Challenge tasksare providing some tough challenges for players. After players have finishingcatching a Rock-typeand completing the other two step one tasks, it’ll be time to move on to step two, which is going to require tracking down a Fighting-type pokemon.

Step two of the Hoenn Thowback Challenge includes three tasks:

The first of two of thesePokemon GOtasks can be completed pretty easily in just a few minutes with the help of some incense and enough Stardust and Candy to burn through, but the third task does require a specific spawn, which can make things a bit harder.

In order to catch a Fighting-type Pokemon, trainers should be able to just use Incense and take advantage of the increased Hoenn-region spawns as long as they know what they’re looking for. Unfortunately, Gen 3 doesn’t include a very long list of Fighting-types and a few of the ones that do exist are evolutions. That said, there are still a handful that should be spawning at an increased rate during the event, so be sure to keep an eye out for any of these during step two of the Hoenn challenge…

Keeping an eye out for any of those Pokemon should help get trainers through phase two of this Throwback Challenge without much of a struggle. Some communities likely have a local nest for a particular Fighting-type Pokemon as well, but obviously that option is going to be much less play-at-home friendly.

For now, players may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
