Elden Ringhas been available now for nearly four months, with millions of players having completed their playthroughs. While some are content to wait for FromSoftware to, hopefully, announce DLC forElden Ring, others are finding new ways to play the game to keep it fresh and exciting. PC mods are one wayElden Ringplayers can radically change the experience. One great, and entirely absurd, recent example is anElden Ringmod perfect for fans of Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

One popularElden Ringmod is named Elden Ring Item and Enemy Randomizer, perfect for creating an entirely fresh and surprising experience every time a player starts a new game. But this mod’s utility goes far beyond just creating a randomizer.YouTuberBushy showed just what can be done with the randomizer mod. Specifically, he took out the randomization and used the mod’s tech to replaceElden Ring’s entire enemy population with a single enemy type of boss.

Fans ofElden Ringlikely already know where this is going. Bushy used the randomizer mod to replace every singleElden Ringenemy with Malenia, the RPG’s most notorious boss.Elden Ring’s basic enemies were all replaced by Malenia.Elden Ring’s bosseswere all replaced by Malenia. EvenElden Ring’s animals were all replaced by Malenia. Only NPCs and certain unusual enemy encounters were left unchanged. Bushy then played through the game, completing it by fighting the traditional Malenia boss fight under the Haligtree. It took over 8 hours.

As evil as the experience may sound, and it is very evil, there were some small aspects of the run that made it less impossible. The biggest limitation being that, while every enemy was replaced byMalenia, they weren’t replaced bytheMalenia. Each replacement Malenia actually scaled down in health and damage to be in line with the enemy they replaced. They still had two phases, of course, but they were significantly less threatening than they could be.

The result of the run was that Bushy ended up running away or escaping every encounter that he possibly could. He scavenged items, armor, andweaponsfrom locations that didn’t require him to fight and, for the most part, only fought required boss Malenias that were necessary for progression. It was still incredibly challenging, but Bushy made it as easy on himself as he could manage.

The All Malenia run ofElden Ringis just one example of how mods can make the game an exciting new experience. TheElden Ring Item and Enemy Randomizerhas a variety of options that can create custom experiences forElden Ringplayers to enjoy, extending the life of the game well past the duration of one or two playthroughs. And there are plenty more mods to come in time.

Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
