It’s highly recommended tofarm up morality and fortitude. Rest at a flag and attack the previously defeated until hitting the max morality of 25 to make this battle easier. Nobody plans on failure, but it’s a wise idea to try and get all the flags just n case players die; this will make it easier to get back to 25 morality. Also, ensure that the Divine Beast meter is fully charged.

How To Beat Zhang Jiao, General Of Heaven

As is the case with most bosses, beating Zhang Jiao, General Of Heaven comes down to understanding the moves anddodging or parrying each attack.

Zhang Jiao’s Moves

When Zhang Jiao waves his club in the air and glows green, prepare for some large white blocks to fall from the sky. There are a couple of things that can happen when they land and both are bad. One is an instant explosion of lighting. The other is a static field. Both leave behind areas of damage afterward.

Therefore, the best thing to do is to dodge away from these blocks as they fall and be careful not to step in these scorched areas for the next few seconds. Zhang Jiao will often cast this move twice in a row, so be alert for a second round of white blocks.

Despite this complicated move, this is one of the best times to attack Zhang Jiao as he is waving his club in the air defenselessly. Dodge when needed, but attack him every other moment until he uses a different move.

Zhang Jiao can also glow white instead. If he does this, look around for any summoned tornados. These will move around. Players who usually use auto-lock will want to deactivate it at this time to get a gauge of their surroundings.

If Zhang Jiao lifts his club but does not glow, he’s about to swing in a wide arc. Parry or block this attack, then launch a flurry of attacks as he regains his footing.

There are two attacks with his unarmed hand that Zhang Jiao has. If he lifts it up, he’s about to slam down in front of him. Either parry this attack or sidestep it to the left or right.

His other attack is harder to read, quick, and hits the entire area in front of him. If he lifts his left hand off of the ground and moves it to his side, he’s about to swipe. As with the club attack, blocking or parrying this attack is the best option.

One of his three unblockable attacks has his head glow red. This means he’s about to cast a ranged spiked ball at the character. Players will have encountered this before from mages in earlier missions. The timing is identical to that, counter the ball before it hits and this will reflect the damage back to Zhang Jiao. To make this simple, get as far away from the boss as possible. Players can then see the ball coming from a long way off and time it easily.

His second unblockable attack has him glowing red from his gut. As he raises his club into the air for a second or two, prepare for him to slam downward. Confident players will be able to parry this. The timing of its execution is so long that careful gamers may want to simply back up or go to his side to avoid the impact.

His final unblockable attack is an impale. Watch for him to dash to the side with his unarmed hand glowing. He will then burst toward the player. As with the spiked ball, the best way to time this out is to back up, making the counter timing much more simple.

When Zhang Jiao gets stunned by a negative spirit bar, take a moment touse a Divine Beastfor some extra damage before taking a lethal blow.
