WWE 2K24has confirmed that CM Punk, when he launches in the ECW Punk DLC Pack on May 14, will have a 90 rating. It feels like a solid number for the Best in the World, but notably, it is also a single point higher than the former World Heavyweight ChampionDrew McIntyre who has an 89 overall rating.
It’s uncertain if McIntyre knows of this yet, but the rating difference could be a point of contention. It’s almost worse that it’s a single point higher than a few points, although whether or not McIntyre acknowledges the difference inWWE 2K24or not remains to be seen. As many know, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been involved in a feud ever since CM Punk’s return to WWE. Perhaps the biggest moment of this feud, thus far, was when CM Punk attacked Drew McIntyre during his moment at WrestleMania 40 - opening him up for current World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest to cash in his Senor Money in the Bank suitcase and assume the title, after McIntyre’s short 5-minute reign.
Ahead of his rating,WWE 2K24had shown off an official in-game screenshot of CM Punk as well as his entrance. The Pro Wrestling Shoot Podcast would then share an image of CM Punk, sporting his 90 overall rating, which was retweeted by the officialWWE 2K24account. It’s uncertain if McIntyre’s rating had any involvement in this decision-making, but it is notably a peculiar choice when looking at CM Punk’s return. Since hisreturn at Survivor Series, CM Punk has not been in a lot of televised matches. He was injured during the Royal Rumble, which McIntyre prayed for, and right now both men are on WWE’s injured list. That has not stopped the shots at each other on WWE TV or on social media, meaning this reveal could add more fuel to the fire.
While Punk is arguably the biggest draw of the ECW Punk DLC Pack, he’s not the only superstar joining the roster. It also includes The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von), The Sandman, and Terry Funk, all of which are exciting additions to the roster. This isCM Punk’s first appearance in a WWE video game in 10 years, while The Sandman notably hasn’t been in a WWE video game sinceSmackDown vs. Raw 2008(released 17 years ago).
