Over the past 10 years or so,Minecrafthas been held aloft as one of the most successful IPs within the gaming industry. Given that it’sa game that has sold hundreds of millions of copies, its success is hardly surprising, and much of the popularity stems from the community itself. Many talented individuals create some really interesting contraptions and builds, and sometimes people go that one step further and use the blocky world to make a whole other game entirely.

That’s what YouTuber Mysticat has done. In a recent video, they have managed to takeMinecraftand build their own version of the classic arcade gameFrogger, or perhaps the mobile releaseCrossy Roadto make it a more contemporary reference. Using a few command blocks, the reimagining sees players, in this case other YouTubers, trying to make it from one end to the other, while avoiding getting run over by cars and trains, and also jumping across floating logs, similar to the source material.

It’s a pretty fun looking adaptation, and the video shows that it is actually quite tricky. Perhaps the most intriguing thing about this project is that it builds off a previous video that Mysticat did. Not long ago, they were able tocreate a moving car withinMinecraft. While this latest footage is entertaining enough, it doesn’t quite do the complexity of making it a lot of justice. The creator clearly has a lot of skills in using commands and testing out ideas in order to fully realize their goal.

Given thatFroggeris abasic yet addictive video game, with its origins going back to the early 1980s, the idea of recreating it withinMinecraftmay seem simple enough. However, the fact that the YouTuber had to create a separate video which chronicles how they went about making a drivable car possible, there’s obviously a lot to these types of projects than just building a stage and some blocky cars. On top of that, they also created their own version ofPac-Manrecently, so they obviously have the talent to pull off complex structures.

As for the game itself,Minecraftis due to have the Wild update soon. There’s no official release date as of yet, but hopefully fans won’t have long to wait. The game is consistently being updated by Mojang, with plenty of content being added into what is already a game with a lot to see and do. No doubt Mysticat will continue to make some interesting things, so it remains to be seen what ideas they will conjure up next.

Minecraftis available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
