After a bit of trial and error, one tenaciousThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer with a flair for the dramatic managed to pull off an impressive trick shot on a Battle Talus. Their unconventional attack was equal parts humorous and effective, not least because the player ended up one-shotting this otherwise fairly resilientTears of the Kingdomenemy.

The latestZeldagame expanded on its predecessor’s monster pool with over half a dozen new creatures, including the Battle Talus. This enemy is essentially a Stone Talus that’s camouflaged as an enemy encampment. Defeating it isn’t particularly challenging compared toTears of the Kingdom’smost annoying enemies, but it can still take a while due to the creature’s sizable health pool.

Alternatively, Reddit user BenBuja recently discovered a way for Link to literally get a drop on the Battle Talus and one-shot it with a jump slash, with the trick being that the attack must start on one of the game’s Sky Islands. A humorously edited video demonstration of this method that the player shared online shows their Link in fullTears of the KingdomEvil Spirit Armorfalling down for almost 15 seconds to the tune of one particularly dramatic remix ofSeal of Seven SagesfromThe Legend of Zelda:A Link to the Past. The clip culminates in the unsuspecting Battle Talus instantly succumbing to the attack once the hit finally connects.

The impressive trick shot unsurprisingly also killed BenBuja’s Link, although the player came prepared with a fairy that automatically revived their hero. The fan said that hitting the Battle Talus required “a few” attempts, without elaborating on the matter.

As for their equipment setup, the playerbeat thisTears of the KingdomBattle Taluswith a Molduga Hammer, which can be created by fusing a Molduga horn to any sword. While it might seem intuitive to assume that this trick shot could have been pulled off with almost any weapon because falling from greater heights ups Link’s jump attack damage, that’s actually not the case; as was the case inBreath of the Wild, jump slashes have a fixed damage modifier inTears of the Kingdom, and the height from which they are initiated only affects their area of effect.

The Legend of Zeldafans have been finding enjoyment in devising comically convoluted ways of defeating enemies for long beforeTears of the Kingdomhit the market. This was most recently underlined by aBreath of the Wildplayer who took down a Stone Talus with the Master Cycle Zerothanks to one nifty maneuver.
